DUNDALK, Md. (WBFF) — The Maryland Department of the Environment said Wednesday floating material found recently in the Back River is filamentous algae, not human feces. But one of the area’s state leaders isn’t buying that explanation.
Del. Robin Grammer Jr. believes that the Back River Wastewater Treatment Plant in Dundalk is leaking human feces into the Back River. Grammer said Wednesday he has yet to see the department’s test results and has made arrangements to do independent testing with Blue Water Baltimore. He said the state Department of the Environment had been not forthcoming during past sewage leaks involving the plant.
